Behind the Scenes: Jefferson Arms Building Revelopment
Downtown’s historic Jefferson Arms Building is set to reopen this summer. Developer Alterra Worldwide has meticulously restored the landmark’s original charm while introducing vibrant, new street-level businesses, including a cocktail lounge, bakery, and coffee shop.
Downtown leaders see the project as a shining example of historic preservation and economic revitalization, with hopes for more transformations to come. “Developers are happy developing Downtown and making money Downtown,” said Kurt Weigle, Chief Downtown Officer at Greater St. Louis, Inc. “That’s an important message to the development community.” (First Alert 4/KMOV)
Governor and Statewide Officials Open Downtown Offices
Missouri Governor Mike Kehoe, Auditor Scott Fitzpatrick, and Treasurer Vivek Malek were in Downtown St. Louis this week to announce plans to maintain a state satellite office at the Old Post Office, joining other statewide offices within the building, including those for both the attorney general and secretary of state.
“I'm committed to making sure that we're doing our part to help the city grow and thrive and to help the region overall continue to be the economic engine for the state of Missouri,” said Fitzpatrick. (St. Louis Public Radio)
