New Legislation Could Boost Downtown Development

Missouri lawmakers are considering a $102 million tax credit program, The Revitalizing Downtowns and Main Streets Act, to help convert vacant office buildings into residential and retail spaces. Downtown redevelopment projects including the Railway Exchange, AT&T Tower, and upper-floor housing on Laclede‘s Landing could benefit from the legislation.

“The St. Louis region and the state of Missouri need to grow, and revitalizing Downtown St. Louis and Main Streets across the state is a critical step toward making that happen,” said Greater St. Louis, Inc. Chief Downtown Officer Kurt Weigle. “This is a top priority for the St. Louis business community.” (St. Louis Post-Dispatch)
