St. Louis on Stage: The Muny Brings Home a 2025 Tony Award
Seeing a show at the Muny is a rite of passage for many St. Louisans. As the sun sinks down low, the stage lights go on. Even in the heat of summer, the world slips away as Broadway-caliber performances unfold in the dark of Forest Park. Locally, the Muny’s magic is well-known. But as of this past weekend, the world is watching now too.
On Sunday night, The Muny — a GSL Investor Council member — received the 2025 Regional Theatre Tony Award, the highest of praise for its exceptional work and the standard it sets for theaters everywhere. While the ceremony took place at Radio City Music Hall, St. Louisans gathered in Ballpark Village for a watch party that celebrated the historic win and benefited St. Louis tornado relief efforts. ▶️ Re-live the moment.
The Bottom Line: Like so many other institutions in St. Louis, The Muny offers world-class opportunities, not only for locals, but for everyone who visits the region. Its enduring presence contributes to the economy and benefits the community. “They respect everybody who works for them, left to right, front of house to back of house,” said performer Patti Murin in the New York Times article. “And you feel that. It makes a difference.”
