Laughing All the Way to St. Louis
Comedy in and of St. Louis is having a moment. In November, the Flyover Comedy Festival, now in its 8th year, will welcome more than 150 comedians from around the country to 10 stages over four days. Big-name national acts share billing with rising stars, and comedy fans will pack local venues large and small.
Proud St. Lousian Nikki Glaser, who moved back to her hometown in 2020, will appear Nov. 8 as a first-time host on Saturday Night Live — arguably the week’s biggest night of comedy. She just filmed her latest Hulu comedy special at the Fox Theatre, and early this year, she hosted the 82th annual Golden Globes. Rising star and Kirkwood native Greg Warren, whose homebase has been St. Louis since 2016, will appear on the Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon on Dec. 15.
The Bottom Line: Not only are St. Louis comedians getting national recognition, but the region’s largest comedy festival is bigger than ever eight years running. Establishing a reputation as a great comedy town brings talent and fans to the region, booking hotels, enjoying restaurants, and returning for more. St. Louis has the venues, the talent, and a convenient location — the rest of the world is starting to take notice.

How $1.14M Will Boost St. Louis Neighborhoods
New grant funding from the City of St. Louis’ Community Development Administration will fund four community projects spanning seven different neighborhoods. The grants, totally $1.14 million, come from the city’s economic development sales tax, and will be used to “turn neighborhood priorities into action.”
Of note, $279,500 will support three pilot shipping container businesses along the Brickline Greenway, which will create vibrancy and generate density in Jeff-Vander-Lou and St. Louis Place. And $388,000 will fund wayfinding improvements in Downtown West.
The Bottom Line: “The best ideas for how to strengthen St. Louis come from the people who live here,” said Mayor Cara Spencer. “These projects are the result of residents working together to plan the future in neighborhoods and the City of St. Louis followed through with the resources to make their visions real.”
