FORTUNE 1000 COMPANY ADVANTAGE SOLUTIONS MOVES HQ TO ST. LOUIS
The St. Louis metro has added another Fortune 1000 headquarters, as Advantage Solutions — a leading provider of outsourced sales and marketing solutions to consumer goods companies and retailers — announced this week that it is moving its corporate headquarters to St. Louis from Irvine, California.
“This is not only great news but serves as another proof point that St. Louis is a major corporate headquarters metro,” said Jason Hall, CEO of Greater St. Louis, Inc. “This decision by Advantage Solutions underscores that we have the assets and renewed focus on growth that it takes to compete and win on the merits with the largest and most sophisticated global companies.”
GSL joined a group of regional collaborators to launch a new regional initiative that aims to strengthen partnerships with Latin America. Cultivar STL will contribute to economic growth in St. Louis and positively impact food security in the Americas as well as globally.
In addition to GSL, Cultivar STL is led by GSL Investor Council Members the Donald Danforth Plant Science Center and BioSTL, alongside the Yield Lab LATAM, the World Trade Center St. Louis, and 39 North Agtech Innovation District.
AT&T AND URBAN LEAGUE PARTNER TO OPEN CONNECTED LEARNING CENTER
GSL Chair’s Council Member AT&T Missouri and Investor Council Member Urban League of Metropolitan Saint Louis came together this week to open the Connected Learning Center — and close the digital divide — in St. Louis. The Connected Learning Center, housed at the Urban League’s headquarters, provides internet access and education tools to those who face connectivity barriers holding them back from participating in our digital world.
"AT&T’s work with the Urban League to create this center and to get computers into the hands of families are great examples of how our investors are collaborating to proactively move the STL 2030 Jobs Plan forward and drive inclusive economic growth,” said GSL CEO Jason Hall.

Announced this week, the new Advanced Workforce Center at the University of Missouri-St. Louis, a GSL Chair’s Council member, will provide accessible educational opportunities for all by delivering diverse pathways to degree attainment to meet workforce demands.
Saint Louis University hosted a ribbon-cutting this week for its new O’Laughlin Family Champions Center, a $20 million, 27,000-square-foot facility housing services for the university’s 400-plus student athletes — a world-class addition to St. Louis’ educational landscape. Bob O'Loughlin, Chairman and CEO of Lodging Hospitality Management and an executive-level member of the GSL Chair’s Council, is one of the primary benefactors of the project.
MAYOR JONES NAMES DIRECTOR OF OFFICE OF NEW AMERICANS
St. Louis Mayor Tishaura Jones has named Gilberto Pinela the director of the city of St. Louis’ Office of New Americans. The office fulfills a promise by Jones to streamline resources to welcome immigrants and refugees to the city.
BILL DEWITT IS BULLISH ON THE TRAJECTORY OF DOWNTOWN ST. LOUIS
In an interview with the St. Louis Business Journal, Bill DeWitt III, President of the St. Louis Cardinals, a GSL Chair’s Council Member, expressed enthusiasm for the trajectory and state of Downtown St. Louis, citing increased security, new leadership, and more as strong reasons to be optimistic.

U.S. Air Force Col. John Poole, the new commander of Scott Air Force Base, is focused on strategic growth, he told St. Louis Public Radio in a recent interview. Home to U.S. Transportation Command, SAFB is one of the metro’s largest employers.
WITH INCREASED FUNDING, MTC TO LAUNCH NEW PROGRAMS
Thanks to increased state and federal funding GSL helped work to secure, the Missouri Technology Corporation plans to launch a number of new programs designed to empower tech companies and encourage startup innovation.
Through her nonprofit workforce development organization, Gateway Global, Zekita Armstrong Asuquo is training under-resourced high school students for entry-level jobs in the geospatial field.
