UNIFIED NETWORK: GSL PARTNERS WITH 20+ ST. LOUIS METRO CHAMBERS OF COMMERCE TO HOLD ECONOMIC OUTLOOK BREAKFAST
Greater St. Louis, Inc. partnered with a group of more than 20 local and regional chambers of commerce from across the St. Louis region to host the first regional Economic Outlook Breakfast. The event — attended by over 600 small business owners, local chamber members, and leaders from across the bi-state metro — featured presentations by GSL CEO Jason Hall and Stefani Pashman, CEO of the Allegheny Conference on Community Development, a nearly 80-year-old organization focused on economic growth and quality of life for the 10 counties of southwest Pennsylvania that comprise the Pittsburgh metro area, as well as a panel of local leaders.
“A unified network of chambers of commerce and small businesses is critical to economic growth in the St. Louis metro,” said Jason Hall, CEO of Greater St. Louis, Inc. “We are excited to partner with this broad and diverse group of local chambers of commerce for this event and look forward to a robust conversation on how we can work together to support small businesses, grow our economy, and continue the resurgence that is building across our metro.”
WASHU, BJC TO HELP MORE EMPLOYEES “LIVE NEAR YOUR WORK”
Washington University in St. Louis and BJC HealthCare, executive-level members of the GSL Chair’s Council, will expand their “Live Near Your Work” program, an effort to support employees and spur investment in disinvested neighborhoods in St. Louis and St. Louis County.
A global design competition is coming to St. Louis in 2025, announced developers of the Gateway South Innovation District, a $1.2 billion project planned for Downtown’s south riverfront. The competition will arm international university teams with seed funding to design and build houses, which will be transported to St. Louis for the event.
WITH PLANS TO ADD 400 JOBS, CLAYCO TO RELOCATE AND EXPAND ST. LOUIS OFFICES
Construction giant Clayco plans to consolidate its St. Louis offices into one highly visible location, the company said this week, announcing the purchase and approval of a former Express Scripts building in North St. Louis County. The $49.7 million project will bring all 600 regional Clayco employees under one roof and give the company space to add 400 more.
“Missouri has played an important role in Clayco’s history. I grew up and started Clayco in the St. Louis region. This announcement and move ensures St. Louis and Missouri will remain an integral part of Clayco’s future,” said Bob Clark, Clayco’s Executive Chairman and Founder.
INTERNATIONAL VISITOR LEADERSHIP PROGRAM CULTIVATES GLOBAL CONNECTIONS
GSL this week hosted visitors from the International Visitor Leadership Program, implemented by the World Affairs Council of St. Louis and sponsored by the U.S. State Department. The program aims to create connections between St. Louis and international visitors and promote the St. Louis metro as a destination. Guests included Spanish speaking leaders from the western hemisphere, as well as local and regional leaders.
FOREST PARK BEGINS CONSTRUCTION ON INAUGURAL BASKETBALL COURTS
For the first time in its history, Forest Park will get a basketball court. A ribbon cutting this week marked the start of construction for the $1.5 million project, which will feature two full and two half courts, and be named after late St. Louis native Nicholas J. Booker. The project is funded by Forest Park Forever, a GSL Investor Council member.
St. Louis' Geospatial Community Celebrates Geography Awareness Week
To celebrate St. Louis’ geospatial ecosystem and help the broader community see the positive impacts geospatial professionals and technology are creating, GeoFutures is proud to celebrate St. Louis Geography Awareness Week, or GeoWeek, Nov. 13-17. GeoWeek, established in 1987 by presidential proclamation, aims to raise awareness about the significance of geography, environmental issues, and spatial understanding. It encourages people to explore the world around them and appreciate the interconnectedness of global issues. It has become an annual tradition for educators, students, and geography enthusiasts to celebrate and explore the world through geography.
“THINKSGIVING” COLLABORATION LEADS TO LOCAL IMPACT
Some of St. Louis’ leading organizations partnered with nearly 70 local nonprofits this month for the fourth annual “Thinksgiving,” hosted by Filament at Cortex, a GSL Investor Council member. The annual event offers the “innovative space and framework for businesses and nonprofits to unite for impact,” according to Filament Founder Matt Homann.
UMSL LEADER NAMED BOARD CHAIR OF INTERNATIONAL COALITION
Kristin Sobolik, Chancellor of the University of Missouri–St. Louis — a GSL Chair’s Council member — was last month elected chair of the board of directors for the international Coalition of Urban and Metropolitan Universities. Her appointment elevates UMSL and the world class educational institutions of St. Louis to a global stage.

In a recent feature, national music publication Spin celebrated St. Louis’ storied music history — and its bright and emerging future as a modern music city.

A new exhibition at the Pulitzer Arts Foundation — a GSL Investor Council member — received national attention recently, when the Wall Street Journal reviewed “Urban Archaeology: Lost Buildings of St. Louis.” The artifacts reveal the breadth and depth of St. Louis’ architecture.
NEW ACCELERATOR OFFERS BUSINESS PATH FOR EMERGING ARTISTS
The TechArtista Foundation’s new Artist Accelerator program offers emerging visual artists a pathway to commercial success while fostering relationships within the vibrant local art community. Applications are now open for the 12-month artist-in-residence experience, giving artists resources, mentorship, and financial support.
