15 COUNTIES, ONE METRO: FRANKLIN COUNTY LEADERS BULLISH ON STL 2030 JOBS PLAN
Franklin County, Missouri, is growing, and, as reported in the Washington Missourian, county leaders tie that to the work Greater St. Louis, Inc. is doing to grow the St. Louis metro as a whole. Efforts guided by the STL 2030 Jobs Plan — from pro-growth public policy work to the STL 2030 Progress Capital Projects Map — make a difference in how cities like Washington, Missouri, can market and attract new businesses and new residents.
The STL 2030 Jobs Plan "has just been nothing but great for our region in terms of investing in infrastructure, investing in properties and things that actually impact the quality of life here," said Franklin County Presiding Commissioner Tim Brinker.
The St. Louis American honored some of the metro’s most impactful business leaders today at its 22nd Salute to Excellence in Business Networking and Awards Luncheon. GSL staff, investors, partners, and graduates of GSL’s Fellows Experience were on hand to celebrate honorees, which included Board Member Dave Steward II (pictured above) and Founding Investor Michael F. Neidorff (posthumously). In remarks to luncheon attendees that stressed GSL’s work to drive inclusive economic growth, CEO Jason Hall recognized GSL Board Members Dr. Donald Suggs, Michael McMillan of the Urban League, and Steward II, all of whom were in attendance.
VENTURE FOR AMERICA: ST. LOUIS A DESTINATION FOR YOUNG INNOVATORS
Venture for America — which will host its 2024 Reunion in St. Louis — this week joined Greater St. Louis, Inc., GSL Investor Council Member Arch Grants, the Delmar DivINe, and Maxine Clark to recognize the St. Louis metro as an excellent place for young entrepreneurs to start up, stand out, and stay. "The reunion will highlight local stakeholders and shine light on the resources available to those who might choose St. Louis as their next entrepreneurial home," said a VFA leader.
NGA ADVISORY COUNCIL CONVENES AT Greater St. Louis, Inc.
Greater St. Louis, Inc. proudly hosted the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency National Advisory Council this week in the Andrew C. Taylor Center for Civic Collaboration, including NGA Director Vice Admiral Frank Whitworth, former U.S. Senator Roy Blunt, and former NGA Director Letitia Long. Through our GeoFutures initiative, GSL continues to build St. Louis’ geospatial ecosystem as a global hub for the sector.
COUNTERPUBLIC MAKES A COLLABORATIVE, MULTI-MILLION DOLLAR IMPACT
St. Louis’ Counterpublic, one of the largest public arts initiatives in the country, brought nearly 200,000 visitors — from 36 states and 12 countries — and $15 million in economic impact to the St. Louis metro last year.
In celebration of its 10th anniversary, the St. Louis Fashion Fund hosted “Runway at CITYPARK,” a collaboration with St. Louis CITY SC that served as a platform for up-and-coming designers — including two CITY players — and landed the national attention of Forbes.
