GABE GORE TOUTS PROGRESS IN REBUILDING CIRCUIT ATTORNEY’S OFFICE
The St. Louis Circuit Attorney’s office has stabilized, said top prosecutor Gabe Gore. Tapped in May by Missouri Governor Mike Parson to replace St. Louis Circuit Attorney Kim Gardner, Gore is now focused on building a “culture of excellence” for the office. In order to clear the significant backlog of caseloads, Gore has recruited 14 experienced prosecutors to the office, growing trial staff by more than a third, while prosecutors from all over the metro and state have provided support and services.
"I'm proud of the work we are doing," Gore said. "And I'm excited about the work going forward."
SMART SECURITY COMPANY LATCH CENTRALIZING IN ST. LOUIS
Building security technology company Latch Inc. will base sales and marketing out of St. Louis, it announced recently, in a move designed to increase company efficiency — and take advantage of the metro’s quality of life, cost of living, and other assets. “As the company grows, I hope that our growth as a business also then also has a follow-on effect of growing in St. Louis. I would love to have as large an office as we could have based on the growth of the company,” said Jamie Siminoff, incoming CEO of the publicly traded company.
GRAYBAR EXPANDS AGAIN WITH BALTIMORE-BASED ACQUISITION
St. Louis-based Graybar is expanding yet again with the acquisition of Shepherd Electric Supply, one of Baltimore’s oldest family-owned — and one of its fastest-growing — businesses. An executive-level member of the GSL Chair’s Council, Graybar is one of St. Louis’ top five privately held companies, and this year reported a record $10 billion in net sales.
Col. John Poole will succeed Col. Chris Robinson as commander of the U.S. Air Force’s 375th Air Mobility Wing — the operator of Scott Air Force Base, one of the largest employers in the St. Louis metro. The base serves as home to U.S. Transportation Command, which plays a critical role in the logistical movement of troops and supplies around the world.
The Advanced Manufacturing Innovation Center - St. Louis announced this week that Tracy Henke — Chief Policy Officer for Greater St. Louis, Inc.— has been named Chief Operating Officer and Deputy Executive Director, leading AMICSTL’s day-to-day operations, including programming, building construction, and fundraising efforts. “Tracy’s new role will only strengthen the partnership we have with AMICSTL and the metro’s advanced manufacturing sector overall,” said GSL CEO Jason Hall.
St. Louis Community College, a GSL Chair’s Council member, broke ground at its Florissant Valley campus this week on construction for its new $62 million Center for Nursing and Health Sciences. Made possible in 2021 by the passage of Prop R, proudly backed by GSL, this is the second of six construction projects that will be undertaken by St. Louis Community College as part of a transformation initiative.
KELVIN ADAMS NAMED CEO OF ST. LOUIS COMMUNITY FOUNDATION
St. Louis Community Foundation — a GSL Chair's Council member — has named Kelvin Adams, past superintendent of St. Louis Public Schools, President and CEO of the organization. With more than 40 years of leadership experience and dedicated community advocacy, Adams will lead one of the metro’s largest foundations, which tackles St. Louis’ most pressing challenges in order to build a more equitable and vibrant region.
Peter Tao, Principal and Founder of TAO + LEE Associates, Inc. — a GSL Investor Member — was honored this month as an Unsung Hero at the OCA – Asian Pacific American Advocate’s 2023 National Convention in Washington D.C. The award recognizes his contributions to the OCA St. Louis Chapter and other AAPI community causes.
DESIGNED BY PGAV, SEAWORLD ABU DAHBI OPENS IN THE UAE
St. Louis-based PGAV, an executive-level member of the GSL Chair’s council, designed the now-open SeaWorld Yas Island, Abu Dhabi, the first international SeaWorld park and the first new SeaWorld in 35 years. The new park opened in May of this year, but the design firm’s innovative planning extended throughout the past decade.
INDIAN CRICKET LEAGUE CONNECTS PLAYERS TO EACH OTHER – AND ST. LOUIS
Forty teams. Multiple languages. Hundreds of players. Formed more than 20 years ago, the St. Louis Cricket League has grown over two decades, offering Indians in St. Louis connection to their heritage, each other, and their current home.
