MilliporeSigma Invests $76M, Adds 170 Jobs to Expand Manufacturing Capabilities in St. Louis
A $76 million investment from MilliporeSigma — the U.S. and Canada Life Science business of Merck KGaA, Darmstadt, Germany — will add 170 jobs and expand the company’s manufacturing capabilities and capacity at its Bioconjugation Center of Excellence in St. Louis City, just blocks from NGA's current campus south of Downtown. The investment not only triples production capacity for MilliporeSigma’s cutting edge antibody-drug conjugate manufacturing, it doubles down on St. Louis as a place that has the ecosystem and support to bring innovation to life.
“We are shaping tomorrow’s cancer care, today,” said Benjamin Hein, Head of Life Science Services for MilliporeSigma. “With this investment, we are not just enhancing our capabilities; we are investing in our clients’ success by accelerating innovation and development to ultimately deliver novel therapies to patients more quickly.”
Karsanbhai: Investment in St. Louis is Necessary — and Worth It

This week, CEO Lal Karsanbhai doubled down on St. Louis’ value — and the need for leaders to continue their investment and involvement in the community.
"These companies move where management wants to live and where there are tax advantages," Karsanbhai said. "I wanted to live here. I wanted to raise my kids here, and the data supported my decision."

A number of companies and organizations have already signed on, including GSL; the Mosaic Project hopes to have around 20 in total.
